Ball™ technology
The idea for Ball™ technology came about from an engineer studying new ways to steer. It started crudely - an old wand handle attached to a wheel. Eventually the wheel became a ball - and an ideal home for the motor.
Ball™ technology
We’ve done away with wheels. The new Dyson upright machines ride on a ball so you can steer with ease - no more push/pull around corners and obstacles. Inside the ball is the motor, giving the machine a lower centre of gravity and improving manoeuvrability even further.
Ultra-lightweight and compact
At just 5.4kg the DC24 is 1/3 smaller than a full-size Dyson upright, but it has the same pick-up. The handle also compresses so you can store it in small spaces.
The problem with conventional uprights
If you look underneath conventional uprights, you’ll see they sit on four fixed wheels. They’re only designed to go forward and back – making steering around corners and obstacles awkward.
Push, pull, push, pull…
With Ball™ technology you can change direction on the spot and corner with a turn of the wrist.
